A few decades ago, receiving a laser hair removal treatment would've been rather risky for a people of color. Lasers weren't made with melanin in mind and, therefore, were safest for individuals with fair skin and dark hair follicles. The main disconnect was that the lasers did not properly distinguish hair follicles and skin pigment, so those with dark skin could run the risk of severe burns, scarring, discoloration, and more. Thankfully, in recent years, we've seen an advancement in inclusive technology made especially for dark skin tones.

Laser Resurfacing Treatment
The Revlite is a Q-switched laser at either the 1064 nm or 532 nm wavelength. It delivers laser energy over the interval of a nanosecond, creating a very concentrated burst of energy. This energy can shatter pigment.
What Is The Revlite Laser Used For?
The Revlite Q-switched laser is often used for tattoo removal. The concentrated energy can shatter tattoo pigment. But the Revlite, using the 532 nm setting, is also used to treat various brown spots. It is a great tool for removing freckles, lentigines, and flat seborrheic keratoses.
The Revlite laser can also be used for “laser toning”, where it is used to stimulate production of collagen, helping reduce fine lines and wrinkles. The Revlite laser at the 1064 nm wavelegnth is also great for opening clogged pores and blackheads in acne.
How Many Laser Treatments Will I Need?
To treat freckles and sunspots with the Revlite laser, usually one or two treatments are required. For laser toning, four to six treatments are required.
What Can I Expect After The Treatment?
When treating freckles or sunspots with the Revlite, you can expect some redness around the treated lesion. The treated lesion will often darken, and then scab off in a few days. A bit of vaseline or aquaphor is all that is usually required for aftercare. Sun protection or avoidance should be practiced as well.
For laser toning, a mild rendness is expected. No specific aftercare is required.

Depending on the client's needs, we will do two to five sessions with treatments spaced two to four weeks apart. Each treatment covers the entire target area with multiple invisible yet powerful laser pulses.
